In his first season he played all 13 games as a starter on the position of right guard . He was recognized for his good work by Yahoo! The Football Writers Association of America selected him as a runner-up All-American team . For his commitment within his community, he became one of the finalists of the Wuerffel Trophy . After his career at the University of Toledo, he received an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game , but was unable to participate in preparatory training after a shoulder injury. For the 100th anniversary of the Rockets in 2017, Mancz was voted 36th in the All-Century Team.

NFL

After Mancz was not selected in the 2015 NFL Draft , the Houston Texans signed him in May 2015 . After a knee injury in the game against the Tennessee Titans , he was placed on the Injured Reserve List on November 3, 2015 . In the 2016 season he was appointed starting center.

In the 2017 season he was the backup of all offensive line positions at the beginning. He had to give the job of the starting center back to Nick Martin , who had to sit out the previous season due to an ankle injury. On the second day of the game, however, he was the starting right guard because Jeff Allen was injured on the first day of the game. Mancz showed good performances, which is why Texans head coach Bill O'Brien decided to keep Allens Mancz going in the event of his return. On the third day of play, however, Mancz was injured, after which he was out for several weeks and had to give up his starting job to Allen. On the 13th matchday Mancz was again the starting right guard. On the 16th matchday he started in the center position after Martin was injured again.

After the season he became a restricted free agent . He received a one-year contract for $ 1.97 million from the Texans. He signed the offer on April 16, 2018. On August 30, 2018, he extended his contract until the 2020 season .
