Tiszabecs is a Hungarian large village in the district Fehérgyarmat in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County . It is located in the east of the county on the left bank of the Tisza, right on the border with Ukraine . On the other side of the Tisza is the Ukrainian town of Wylok .

history

Tiszabecs was mentioned in writing as early as 1181. In 1368 the place was referred to as castrum , which suggests the existence of a royal castle.

The place was recorded in the Josephinische Landesaufnahme as Tisza Becse and in the Franziszeischen as Tisza Bécs .

Coming from Carpathian Ukraine , Rákóczi crossed the Tisza on July 14, 1703 . This enabled his uprising to spread to present-day Slovakia and present-day northern Hungary.

In 1864 large parts of the village were destroyed by flooding.
