Gregory Itzin (born April 20, 1948 in Washington, DC ) is an American actor .

Life

Gregory Itzin began his career as a stage actor at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco . He was nominated for a Tony Award for his role in the Pulitzer Prize- winning play The Kentucky Circle .

Itzin appeared in television series such as Friends , Navy CIS , OC, California , Amy Just in Case , Boston Legal , CSI: On the Trail of the Criminals , Practice - The Lawyers or Firefly - The Dawn of the Serenity . He also took on the role of John Ashcroft in the TV movie DC 9/11: Time of Crisis .

Itzin starred in various roles in five episodes of the " Star Trek " television series. His most famous role there was that of Admiral Black in Star Trek: Enterprise .

For his leading role as US President Charles Logan in the fifth season of the US television series 24 , he was nominated for an Emmy Award for best supporting actor in a drama series. The same character, albeit then also as vice or ex-US president, he played as a recurring supporting role in the fourth, sixth and eighth season of the series.
