Gries is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Oberndorf an der Melk in the Scheibbs district in Lower Austria .

Settlement development

At the turn of the year 1979/1980 there were a total of 214 building areas with 63,212 m² and 111 gardens on 145,148 m² in the cadastral community of Gries , in 1989/1990 there were 226 building areas. In 1999/2000 the number of construction areas had increased to 566 and in 2009/2010 there were 371 buildings on 657 construction areas.

Land use

The cadastral community is characterized by agriculture. 681 hectares were used for agriculture at the turn of the year 1979/1980 and 50 hectares were forest areas. In 1999/2000 agriculture was carried out on 664 hectares and 57 hectares were designated as areas used for forestry. At the end of 2018, 637 hectares were used as agricultural land and forestry was carried out on 61 hectares. The average soil climate of Gries is 44.5 (as of 2010).
