The Griesberg near Bad Salzdetfurth in the Lower Saxony district of Hildesheim is 358.9  m above sea level. NHN is the highest mountain in the Innerste Uplands belonging Hildesheim Forest .

The Griesberg is located in the southeast of the Hildesheim Forest between the core town of Bad Salzdetfurth in the east and the village of Petze in the southwest, an eastern district of Sibbesse . Its summit region belongs to the Almstedt area , parts of the east and south flanks belong to the urban area of ​​Bad Salzdetfurth and lower parts of the southwest flank to the municipal area of ​​Sibbesse. The Klusbach flows southeast of the mountain as a western tributary of the Lamme and northwest of the Kalte Beuster as the right source stream of the Beuster .

The Griesberg belongs in the natural spatial main unit group Weser-Leine-Bergland (No. 37), in the main unit Innerstebergland (379) and in the subunit Hildesheimer Bergland (379.0) to the natural area Hildesheimer Wald (379.01).

Sibbesse communications tower

The 130 m high Sibbesse telecommunications tower , which is not open to the public , has stood on the Griesberg since 1973 . It serves non-public radio relay and supplies the surrounding area with radio programs.

Traffic and walking

East past the Griesberg through Bad Salzdetfurth in a north-south direction the state road  490, from which the L 482 branches off in Östrum through Breinum , Almstedt , Segeste and Petze mainly north-west to Sibbesse . For example, starting at these roads, the mountain can be hiked on mostly forest trails and paths.
