Groß Lüben is an inhabited part of the municipality of Bad Wilsnack from the Bad Wilsnack / Weisen district in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .

geography

The place is two kilometers west of Bad Wilsnack. The neighboring towns are Karthan , Sigrön and Haaren in the northeast, Bad Wilsnack in the east, Legde in the southeast, Ziegelei in the south, Gnevsdorf , Rühstädt , Ronien , Bälow and Sandkrug in the southwest, Scharleuk in the west and Klein Lüben and Jackel in the northwest.

history

Groß Lüben was first mentioned in 1339 as "luben". The addition of “large” to the name was not added until 1415 to differentiate between the small Lüben , which was first mentioned in that year . The place name comes from the Slavic and means "place where there is tree bark, bark".

On July 25, 1952, the community of Groß Lüben was assigned to the then newly formed district of Perleberg in the district of Schwerin , previously it belonged to the district of Westprignitz . On February 1, 1974, it was incorporated into Bad Wilsnack . After the reunification, Groß Lüben was assigned to the Prignitz district in the course of the Brandenburg district reform in December 1993 . The village is in the Bad Wilsnack / Weisen district.
