The Great Bamicke near Latrop in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis is 614.6 m above sea level. NHN high, barely noticeable summit on a Riedel and foothills of the massif of the Großer Kopf ( 740.8 m ) in the Rothaar Mountains .
geography
location
The Große Bamicke is located on a north-facing riedel in the west of the Kühhuder Rothaar in the immediate vicinity of the Latrop Gorge of the Latrop between its tributaries Kleine Bamicke (W) and Ettmecke (O). The neighboring summit Kleine Bamicke ( 661.3 m ), which already introduces the Rüsper Rothaar , on the other side of the stream of the same name, just under 1 km west-southwest, the Große Kopfs about 2.4 km east-southeast.
The summit is located in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park , between Bad Berleburg in the southeast and Schmallenberg in the north-northwest. The closest villages are Latrop, 1.3 km to the north-northeast, and the hamlet of Jagdhaus, 2.7 km to the west, are two districts of Schmallenberg. About 800 m south of the summit runs on the ridge of the Kühhuder Rothaar with the Rhine-Weser watershed , the border from the Hochsauerlandkreis with Schmallenberg to the Siegen-Wittgenstein district with Bad Berleburg.

The Große Bamicke belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33) in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) and in the subunit Winterberger Hochland (333.5) to the natural area Kühhuder Rothaar (333.52).
Mountain height
A few meters south-southwest of the summit of the Great Bamicke ( 614.6 m ), the altitude of 610.2 m can be found on topographic maps . To the north-north-east of their highest point, further altitude information can be found on such maps (viewed from south-south-west to north-north-east): 607.2 m , 608.6 m , 607.7 m and 610 m .
Protected areas
The Große Bamicke is located in the nature reserve forest reserve Schanze and in the fauna-flora-habitat- area Schanze (for details see the section protected areas in the article Großer Kopf ).
Traffic and walking
In Fleckenberg , the small Latroper Straße branches off from the federal highway 236 , which runs as a dead end north past the Große Bamicke to Latrop . In addition, in Fleckenberg the Jagdhäuser Straße branches off from the B 236 , which gradually leads through Jagdhaus and after passing the neighboring Kleine Bamicke in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district as district road 42 to Wingeshausen . For example, from Latrop or Jagdhaus you can get to the Great Bamicke on forest and hiking trails . The valley path of the Rothaarsteig , which comes from the northeastern village of Latrop and leads southeast around the Große Bamicke , runs a little more than halfway between the summit and the district border . A little further to the south-west, near the Kleine Bamicke , it meets the mountain path , leading as a unified path westwards to the village of Jagdhaus.
