history

The widespread spelling “ evil stone ” is misleading because it is not an evil stone . The mountain takes its name from the Pölsenbach in the south of the valley of the same name.

Paths and huts

The most important base and at the same time the starting point for many mountain hikes in this area is the Edelrautehütte , which is located at 1,725 m, is looked after by the Austrian Alpine Association and can be easily reached via a toll road from Hohentauern . An ascent time of around 2 to 2.5 hours can be expected from the hut to the summit, and around 1.5 hours of walking time should be calculated for the descent.

Other peaks that can be easily climbed from the Großer Bösenstein or from the Edelrautehütte are the Kleine Bösenstein , the Sonntagskarspitze and the Großer Hengst . In addition, a demanding high-altitude trail leads over the "Dreisteckengrat" and the Hochhaide to the Rottenmanner Hütte .
