The Große Kaserer is 3263 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Zillertal Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol .
In the vernacular he is simply referred to as Haserer . It is part of the Kaserer mountain group, which still consists of the False Kaserer and the Kleiner Kaserer , the latter is also called just Kaserer for short.
location
The Großer Kaserer is located on the Hintertux Glacier and - apart from a little rock - is glaciated on its east side. In the west it drops quite steeply over the Wildlahnerferner into the Schmirntal .
Bases and routes
Like the Kleine Kaserer, this mountain is also an easy three-thousand-meter peak that is easy to climb with the exception of a little block climbing ( difficulty level UIAA I ) on its east side. The view is very good due to its throne-like position over the Hintertux Glacier, even if the view to the south is obstructed by the neighboring Olperer . In winter a ski lift leads to just below the summit.
- From the mountain station of the Hintertux Glacier Gondola , you walk across the glacier a little north of the Wildlahnerscharte and from there you hike a few meters over boulders to easy climbing ( difficulty UIAA I ) to the summit.
- From the Schmirntal it is a moderately difficult climbing destination with crossing of the split Wildlahnerferner and rock climbing. The Großer Kaserer is connected to the somewhat smaller False Kaserer ( 3254 m above sea level ) via a rugged ridge , which can only be recognized as a mountain from the Schmirntal, as it is actually just a small elevation above the Wildlahnerscharte .
- The crossing to the Kleiner Kaserer is also high alpine.
