The Wildlahnerscharte is about 3230  m above sea level. A. high pass between Tuxertal and Schmirntal in the Zillertal Alps , Tyrol. It is located directly in the Hintertux Glacier ski area . The hill at the pass is called Falscher Kaserer  ( 3254  m above sea level ).

Location and landscape

The pass lies between the rearmost Tuxertal , a valley of the Zillertal , and the Wildlahn in the Schmirntal , a side valley of the Wipptal of the Sill . It connects the Olperer  ( 3476  m above sea level ) in the south, the main summit of the Tux main ridge , with the Kaserern ( Großer Kaserer or Haserer  3263  m above sea level ) in the north. Both peaks are only about 500 meters away as the crow flies, a steep ridge falls down from the Olperer, but the Große Kaserer only slightly towers above the Wildlahnerscharte, it is only a more prominent summit towards the north, so it is a prelude of the Olperer. Between the actual Wildlahnerscharte and the Großer Kaserer rises a small gupf, the Falsche Kaserer, and one about 3180  m above sea level. A. high nameless saddle.

The Wildlahnerscharte is still completely glaciated today and leads from the ice field of the Tuxer Ferners over to Olpererferner on the Olperer and Wildlahnerferner on the Großer Kaserer. The False Kaserer is so called because it only appears as a summit from the Schmirn, more clearly than the Großer Kaserer, but remains inconspicuous from the Tux side. The actually lower notch breaks off the Schmirnseits steeply and therefore impassable to the Wildlahnerferner and has therefore remained nameless.

Development

In the Hintertux Glacier ski area , the two parallel Olperer T-bar lifts lead to Scharte and Falschen Kaserer; this side is open to the slopes in both winter and summer. On the Schmirner side, the Geraer Hütte leads up the Wildlahnergrat , which separates the Olperer and Wildlahnerferner, along a glacier route. The Olperer can be climbed from the Wildlahnerscharte, to the north you can go up the Kasererkamm high alpine to the Tuxer Joch (via Kaserer Schartl - Frauenwand ).
