The Group of the Northeastern Troops and Armed Forces of Russia ( Russian Группировка войск и сил на Северо-востоке России ) is a Russian troop unit and part of the Russian Pacific Fleet . history
On December 14, 1849, according to the decree of Tsar Nicholas I, the Okhotsk flotilla was deployed to Petropavlovsk . This date is considered the foundation day of the association. The Kamchatka flotilla was set up on December 1, 1945 at the Petropavlovsk naval base . In the first eight years after the end of World War II, the flotilla cleared the east coast of Kamchatka and the northern Kuril Islands of mines . In the 1970s and 1980s, the flotilla consisted of two diesel submarine brigades , a submarine and missile ship brigade , a coastal defense division and hydrography, rescue and auxiliary ships . The ships of the flotilla made some ocean voyages, clearing the bay of the port of Chittagong and the Suez Canal. Their submarines made successful journeys under the ice of the Arctic.
In 1998 the Kamchatka Flotilla was transformed into the group of the Northeastern Troops and Armed Forces of Russia. This operational group currently consists of naval and air defense forces, aircraft, marines and other military units.
