history

Gsellhof (without Gsellmühle) was first mentioned in writing in 1521 in the tax registers of the Donaustauf regional court. Gsellhof together with the Gsellmühle was listed in 1599 as belonging to the Donaustauf district court with bailiwick and authority. The Klosterreichenbach was landlord of Gsellhof and Gsell mill. That is why Gsellhof was never authorized to use forestry. The provost's office on the long field of the Reichenbach monastery was the landlord of Gsellhof in the 17th century. As long as the Reichenbach monastery was not occupied by religious people and restitution was still pending, his income went to the elector and the bishops of Eichstätt, Bamberg and Regensburg. The Hofmarkherr von Altenthann bought Gsellhof in 1638, but this did not change the rights of the bailiwick. Until the 18th century, the people of Zenger were also beneficiaries of Gsellhof's income.

On March 23, 1913 (Easter), Gsellhof belonged to the Wenzenbach parish and had one house and 11 residents.

On December 31, 1990 Gsellhof had 5 residents and belonged to the parish Altenthann.
