Guglielmo Stendardo (born May 6, 1981 in Naples , Italy ) is a former Italian football player . His younger brother Mariano is also a professional soccer player.
Career
In the club
Guglielmo Stendardo began his career together with brother Mariano in the youth department of SSC Napoli . On May 16, 1998, he made his Serie A debut in a 2-2 draw against AS Bari . For the 1998-99 season , he moved to Sampdoria , topped with the club but in the first season in the Serie B from. In Genoa Stendardo played until 2003, he made a total of 33 league games for Samp . The second half of the 2002/03 season he spent on loan at Salernitana Sport , 2003/04 he was loaned to Catania Calcio . The 2004/05 season Stendardo played for AC Perugia .
When the Umbrian club was dissolved in the summer of 2005 after financial problems, Guglielmo Stendardo moved to Lazio Rome in Serie A. In his first year he played 18 Serie A games under coach Delio Rossi , and in 2006/07 he made 21 appearances. In the 2007/08 season Stendardo started due to the injuries of his defender colleagues Sebastiano Siviglia and Mobido Diakité as a regular player and showed good performances.
In December 2007, Stendardo fell out with Lazio coach Rossi after not starting the matches against Real Madrid and Juventus Turin and requested an immediate transfer. So he moved to Juventus Turin on loan for the rest of the season in January 2008. As part of this transfer, it was agreed that Juve could sign him for about 12 million euros in the summer . With this relatively high price, Lazio president Claudio Lotito wanted to ensure that Stendardo would return to Rome in the summer, which he succeeded in doing.
In the summer of 2008 Guglielmo Stendardo was awarded a year to the Serie A promoted US Lecce .
In 2012 Stendardo moved to Atalanta Bergamo , for which he was active until January 2017 and promoted Delfino Pescara joined in 1936 . After a year at Pescara, Stendardo ended his career.
In the national team
Guglielmo Stendardo made a total of 21 junior internationals for Italy. He has not yet been used in the senior national team .
