Gumpen is a district of the Reichelsheim community in the Odenwald district in southern Hesse .

Gumpen is located in the Odenwald in the southern part of the Gersprenz valley . Bundesstrasse 38 / Bundesstrasse 47 runs through the village .

history

Groß-Gumpen was first mentioned in a document under the name Gumpen in 1357. Later the place was also called Gumpen in den Lange Erlen .

On January 1, 1968, the communities Groß-Gumpen and Ober-Klein-Gumpen merged to form the new, short-lived community of Gumpen. On December 31, 1971, the community pools came in the course of administrative reform in Hesse to the village of Reichelsheim i. Odw.
