Raoul Gunsbourg

Raoul Samuel Gunsbourg (born January 6, 1860 in Bucharest , † May 31, 1955 in Monte Carlo ) was a Romanian opera director, writer and composer .

Life

Raoul Gunsbourg acquired his musical education and extensive knowledge of literature and languages ​​as an autodidact . In 1875 he graduated from the medical school in Bucharest . In 1877/78 he served as a medic in the Russian army in the Russo-Turkish War .

In 1881 Gunsbourg founded a French opera stage in Moscow . From 1883 he worked for Tsar Alexander III. (1881–1894) Courier services to France . 1888/89 Gunsbourg was director of the Grand Théâtre of Lille , 1889–1891 director of the Nice Opera and 1892–1951 director of the Opéra de Monaco .
