Gushan ( Chinese  鼓山 區 , Pinyin Gǔshān Qū ) is a district on the west coast of the Taiwanese city ​​of Kaohsiung . In September 2013 the district had 134,771 inhabitants.

The neighboring districts of Gushan are Zuoying in the north and Sanmin and Yancheng in the east. Gushan is bounded by the Taiwan Strait to the west and south . Across from Xiziwan Bay , the southern bank of Gushan, is the northern tip of Qijin Island at a distance of about 130 m . The northern entrance of the port of Kaohsiung, which is very busy with shipping, runs between the two banks.

Education, culture and sights

The Sun Yat-sen National University, established in 1980 , is one of the most important universities in Taiwan in the Gushan district . Gushan is rich in tourist attractions. Above all, the bay Xiziwan and the Shoushan are to be mentioned, which are popular destinations for travelers from home and abroad. The Kaohsiung Art Museum and the Takao Railway Museum are also located in the Gushan District .
