Gustav Frölich (swimmer)
Gustav Frölich , also erroneously written Fröhlich , (* 1902 in German Samoa , † April 17, 1968 in Sydney , Australia ) was a German swimmer .
In the 1920s, Frölich swam for SC Hellas Magdeburg , one of the swimming strongholds at the time. On October 2nd, 1921, at the International Swimming Festival in Darmstadt , Frölich set a world record with a time of 1: 14.0 minutes on the 100 meter back course . At the German Championships from 1921 to 1926 he was five times German champion over 100 m back. In addition, he became the first European champion over 100 m back in Budapest in 1926 . The following year he finished third over the same distance.
His trainer at the time was Rudolf Brewitz .
