Gustav Hermann Julius Lipsius

Gustav Hermann Julius Lipsius (born July 15, 1802 in Großhennersdorf , † December 4, 1841 in Bernstadt ad Eigen ) was an Evangelical Lutheran pastor .

Life

Lipsius was born in Großhennersdorf in 1802. His father was the pastor Adolph Gottfried Wilhelm Lipsius; the later theologian and rector Karl Heinrich Adelbert Lipsius was his brother.

From 1815 to 1821 he attended the grammar school in Zittau . He then studied philosophy with Wilhelm Traugott Krug , education and theology with Johann August Heinrich Tittmann and Heinrich Gottlieb Tzschirner at the University of Leipzig until 1824 . From 1825 to 1828 he was a private tutor in Leipzig. In 1829 he became a deacon in Großhennersdorf, in 1833 archdeacon in Löbau and pastor in Lawalde . In 1841 he became pastor in Bernstadt. He married Mariane Fanny Rost, daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm Ehrenfried Rost , at that time the rector of the Thomas School in Leipzig , with whom he fathered two children.

On December 4, 1841, he died in Bernstadt ad Eigen of biliary fever.
