Gustav Ilse
Gustav Leopold Friedrich Ilse (born November 16, 1821 near Prenzlau ; † December 14, 1906 in St. Johann (Saar) ) was a German pastor , educator and honorary citizen of Saarbrücken .
Life
Ilse spent his childhood and youth at Gut Graukloster in the Uckermark . His father was the government building inspector Leopold Friedrich Wilhelm Ilse (1783-1851), his mother Karoline Friedericke Langwell (1795-1869). Until 1839 he attended high school in his hometown, then he moved to Koblenz . There he passed the Abitur at the Royal Prussian High School in 1843 . At the universities in Tübingen , Berlin and Bonn studied Ilse 1843-1848 theology . In Bonn he joined the Bonner Wingolf in 1845 . He took his two parish exams in Koblenz in 1847 and 1849.
On December 28, 1853, Ilse married his wife Maria geb. Eilers (1828-1904). The children Catharina (* 1854), Gustav Leopold Gerhard (1857–1902), Marie (* around 1859), and Paul Eduard Moritz (* 1866) as well as three other sons who died early around 1855, 1856 and 1861 emerged from the marriage .
Ilse was buried on December 18, 1906 in the St. Johann cemetery (Saarbrücken) next to his wife and son Gerhard.
Working as a pastor and teacher
On January 6, 1850, Ilse entered the church service as an assistant preacher in Andernach , his ordination took place at the same place on May 15, 1850. In 1852 he also took over pastoral care in the local institution for the mentally ill . On November 4, 1853 Use entered his parish in the Protestant church St. Johann in Saarbrücken on. He was first appointed second pastor and was introduced to this office on January 15, 1854. On April 11, 1860, he was appointed first pastor, his inauguration was on June 24 of the same year. From May 15, 1864, Ilse took over religious instruction at the Saarbrücken grammar school , followed by the appointment of school inspector in 1869. From 1878 Ilse also taught at the upper secondary school, today's Otto Hahn grammar school . On July 6, 1898, Ilse celebrated the inauguration of the newly built Johanneskirche in front of his congregation . In the year of his 50th anniversary in office, he resigned on October 1, 1904.
Foundations
In 1894 Ilse took over the Paul-Marien-Stift, which had been founded in 1878, from the Haldy family for his parish . After being made an honorary citizen, the citizens of Sankt Johann transferred this part of the community's assets to the Ilse Foundation, which was ultimately transferred to the community and thus to the later city of Saarbrücken (from 1909) for charitable purposes, which quickly expanded the facility into a hospital. The Evangelical Hospital still houses the Paul-Marien-Hospiz today, supported by the kreuznacher diakonie foundation .
