Johann Heinrich Ernst Gustav von Normann (born October 29, 1790 in Breslau ; † January 26, 1855 in Braunschweig ) was a Braunschweig officer, most recently in the rank of lieutenant general and from 1851 to 1855 city commander of the Braunschweig garrison .

Military career

Naumann entered the Prussian military service as a Junker in 1804 and became an ensign in 1805 . In 1809 he joined the black crowd of Duke Friedrich Wilhelm von Braunschweig . His departure from the Prussian Army was not received until 1822. On July 29, 1809, von Normann took part in the battle near Halberstadt as a second lieutenant and was critically wounded. A French surgeon saved his life and then helped him to flee to England. He was later seriously injured again as a captain in the Spanish War .

After his return, Duke Friedrich Wilhelm promoted him to major and appointed him his personal adjutant . In this function, von Normann accompanied the Duke to the Congress of Vienna in 1815 . Although he had made a special contribution as commander of the Third Battalion (since April 14, 1815) in the Battle of Waterloo , he was put on waiting from February 1, 1816 to February 5, 1824 before he took command the Braunschweigische Leibbataillon received. In 1835 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel, in 1840 to colonel and in 1841 to major general and commander of the field corps. In 1851, as Lieutenant General, von Normann finally became City Commander of Braunschweig.
