Career

In the 1980s and 1990s Cerati belonged together with Charly Alberti and Zeta Bosio to the Argentine rock band Soda Stereo , which was one of the most popular rock bands in Latin America from its formation in 1982 until its dissolution in 1997. He also started a solo career in the early 1990s.

In 1991 he released the album Colores Santos with Daniel Melero . In 1994 his first solo album Amor Amarillo was released . Hector (Zeta) Bosio, the ex-bassist of Soda Stereo, took part in the title song. The song Bajan was a remake of a work by Luis Alberto Spinetta.

After his band career, his album Bocanada was released in 1999 with electronic samples and beats, which he actually wanted to call Cerati Iluminado because of the lyrics and music . The 2001 album + Bien contained the soundtracks of the film of the same name by director Eduardo Capilla. In this film, Cerati made his actor debut. He produced another soundtrack for the film Solo Por Hoy . In the same year he released 11 Episodios Sinfonicos , live recordings of a concert with a classical orchestra with which he played some of his most popular songs. With Siempre es Hoy he offered new musical perspectives in 2002. A year later, a collection of remixes was published under the title Siempre es Hoy / Reversiones , recorded by various electronic music artists from around the world. The 2006 rock album Ahí vamos, produced by Hector Castillo and Tweety Gonzalez, combines Cerati's guitar music with a melodic style. It went platinum in Argentina within a day .

Cerati has several alter egos in electronic music, including Plan V, Ocio, and Roken. He has produced albums for other artists; the best known are Sueños en Transito for Nicole and Mar for Leo Garcia and for the band Friccion . He also worked with Caifanes , Los Calzones and Shakira .

Cerati won a Latin Grammy on November 2, 2006 for best rock album and best rock song. He succeeded again with the album Fuerza Natural (2009), which won the Latin Grammy in 2010.

On March 10, 2007, Cerati gave a free concert in a square in Buenos Aires that concluded the city council's summer program and drew between 150,000 and 200,000 spectators.

On July 7th 2007 Cerati performed together with Shakira at the Live Earth concert in Hamburg .

Private life

From 1992 to 2002 Cerati was married to the Chilean model Cecilia Amenábar and had two children with her. His wife worked as a singer on his first solo album Amor Amarillo . He later dated the model Déborah de Corral, who was the girlfriend of Charly Alberti in the mid-1990s. She appeared as a guest singer on the album Siempre Es Hoy . Some of the songs on Ahí Vamos' next album are about their separation.
