Guten Tach is a 1992 music album by Helge Schneider . It is the artist's fourth album and was recorded partly in the studio and partly live . The recordings took place with Schneider's band Hardcore , consisting of organist Buddy Casino and drummer Peter Thoms .
Emergence
The album essentially consists of songs recorded in the studio and accompanying remarks or comedic speeches recorded during performances. The two appearances, from which the live recordings originate, took place on December 18, 1991 in the Cologne city garden and on November 22 of that year in the Revierpark Nienhausen in Gelsenkirchen . The songs, on the other hand, were recorded by Schneider himself in the Styrum Transatlantic Vanguard Studios and mixed by Tom Täger in the recording studio on the Ruhr .
The cover of the album shows Helge Schneider with a microphone, a painting that the painter Frank Burkamp made from a photo taken by Max Schulz. Further photos on the record cover were taken by Dietmar Korth and Helge Schneider himself. Schneider also made drawings for the booklet and "decorated" the album cover with slogans and comments. He also wrote extensive comments on the album, which were printed in the booklet.
The songs on the album are mainly cover versions that are performed quite freely ; only Ladiladiho , Beethoven , Texas and 100,000 roses come from Helge Schneider himself.
Good tach! In 1994, in the wake of Schneider's hit single, Katzenklo , entered the German album charts and reached number 81 in six weeks.

Live recordings from Cologne are the titles with the numbers 1, 3, 8 and 13. The numbers 5, 10, 11 and 14 come from Gelsenkirchen.
Contents of the songs
- According to Schneider, Ladiladiho is about an invitation not to always think about yourself, but to be friendly towards other people and say, for example, "Good Tach!" Schneider draws the conclusion: “You mustn't argue. Better to take a hundred steps backwards than one forwards. ”The song was used in the 1991 film Manta .
- I am the House of New Orleans is a parody on the famous song The House of the Rising Sun . Schneider plays the electric guitar in this piece and spoils the text by mixing up words and lines of text (“My father was a tailorman and I am the son”).
- Take Five is a cover version of the song of the same name by Paul Desmond , in which Schneider has integrated a scat vocal solo.
- Beethoven parodies Ludwig van Beethoven's well-known piano work Für Elise and satirizes in particular the distinctive half-tone motif at the beginning of the piece, which is repeated here over and over again ( "In a moment ... ten ... only ten minutes ..." )
- Wundervolle Welt German parody Louis Armstrong's famous song What a Wonderful World . The text seems quite absurd and improvised ("I have a garden behind the house, 200,000 hectares ...").
- Texas is a country- like piece that Schneider claims to have composed at the age of four. The focus of the text is on typical Western clichés (cacti, saloon, boots, etc.). The song also gave its name to the 1993 film Texas - Doc Snyder holds the world in suspense and was re-recorded in 2007 for the album I Brake Together . Texas , unlike most of the tracks on the album, was recorded live.

- 100,000 Roses is a short trumpet solo piece that was also recorded live.
In his speeches, Helge Schneider shows his typical improvised humor and thus partly leads over to the songs. In Philosophy I he parodies high-spirited discussions about the humanities and the natural sciences, asking difficult-to-answer questions such as “who are you ?!”. The play on words "Learn, Learn, Popernen" used in the number was used again in 1995 in the song Das Rätsel (on the album Es rappelt im Karton ) and developed into a running gag on later appearances . Puberty is, according to its name, a series of silly obscene descriptions of sexual practices and the changing youthful body. For example, Schneider takes delight in the description of different forms of acne , which he compares with pizza toppings.
