Guus van Nes (born February 14, 1997 ) is a Dutch ice hockey player who has been playing in ECAC hockey for the Quinnipiac Bobcats, the Quinnipiac University team , since 2018 .

Career

Clubs

Guus van Nes began his career as an ice hockey player with the Dordrecht Lions from his hometown, for which he made his debut at the age of 14 in the Tweede divisie, the third highest division in the Netherlands. For the 2013/14 season he moved to the Eindhoven Kemphanen , for which he only came to one game in the honor division . However, he mainly played with the "Eindhoven High Techs" in the Eerste divisie . In the following season he was already used seven times in the honor division and also played with the "talent team" of the Dutch Ice Hockey Federation in the Eerste divisie. In 2014 he moved to the United States, where he was on the ice with the Boston Junior Bruins, initially for the U18 and from 2015 for the U20 team in the USPHL. In 2015 he was elected to the All-Star-Team of the U18 USPHL. In the 2017/18 season he played for the Bruins in the National Collegiate Development Conference . When he started studying at Quinnipiac University , he switched to their college team, the Bobcats , with whom he played hockey in the ECAC .

International

For the Netherlands, Guus van Nes took part in the Division II games of the U18 World Championships in 2013 , 2014 when he was voted the best player of his team, and 2015 when he was again honored as the best player of the Dutch and also with his compatriot Max Hermens also became the tournament's top scorer, as well as participating in the U20 World Championships in 2014 , 2015 and 2016 .

In the men's national team , Hermens played for the first time at the 2016 World Cup in Division II when he was promoted to Division I. There he played at the 2017 World Cup .
