The Gwen Drez was a research ship of the French research institute Ifremer . The ship was managed by Genavir.
history
The ship was built in 1976 at the Constructions Mécanqiues de Normandie (CMN) shipyard in Cherbourg as a fishing trawler . In 1984 it was bought by Ifremer and converted into a research ship. It was primarily used for fisheries research projects in the English Channel and Bay of Biscay .
Technical specifications
The ship was equipped with a diesel engine from the manufacturer Baudoin (type: DVX 12) with 440 kW power . A shaft generator with 56 kVA apparent power and a diesel generator with 70 kVA apparent power were available for the power supply.
Furnishing
The ship was equipped with various equipment needed for the research, including fish finders and sonar .
