The school Konz , initially Staatliches Gymnasium Konz called, is one of the country Rhineland-Palatinate entertaining high school in the town of Konz .

history

The state high school in Konz was opened on August 1, 1973 to relieve the Trier high schools. At that time 115 pupils in the 5th grade were taught by four teachers; The lessons initially took place in the rooms of the secondary and secondary school in the school and sports center in Konz. At the beginning of the 1978/79 school year, the new building there (today's main building) could be occupied. In 1981 the first students passed the Abitur.

In 1988 a newly built multi-purpose hall was put into operation. In order to be able to use it for larger events, the hall was supplemented by a stage extension. In 1998 a three-story extension was inaugurated. Since 2003, the high school in Konz is the first high school in Rhineland-Palatinate to be operated as an all-day school .

profile

The high school in Konz sets its accents primarily in the areas of mathematics and science as well as in the linguistic area. With this, the school would like to prepare its students for the demands of a rapidly changing world in accordance with its mission statement. The aim of the most holistic education possible for young people should, according to their own statement, be served by the musical and sporting offers.

Körtels, who worked as a local historian in addition to his school service , later published about this and other research results on local Jewish history, particularly around the Trier region .

In 2003 the high school chemistry course twelve was selected to take part in the international Globe Congress in Šibenik in Croatia with water studies (on the Saar and Moselle ) and represented Germany there alongside another school. The Globe program was originally launched by an association of some US authorities and is now mainly supported by space agencies from around the world. Around 2003 a total of 103 nations, around 12,000 schools and more than 20,000 specially trained teachers took part in the project.

In addition, in 2015 Kopp and 15 other teachers were awarded the Helmholtz Teachers Award from the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers as a “particularly committed project supervisor” of “Jugend forscht” projects.

In his role as the school's MINT officer, Kopp was also the driving force behind the establishment of an environmental analysis laboratory , which began in the 2014/15 school year. The project was honored in September 2016 as part of the monthly competition "Energy for Education" organized by the natural gas trading company Gasversorgung Süddeutschland (GVS) since 2010 - as "Recognition for the construction of the (environmental) analytics laboratory and its successful didactic and methodical integration with the Subject teaching ".
