Héctor Miguel Cabrejos Vidarte OFM (born July 5, 1948 in Chota ) is a Peruvian religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Trujillo .

Life

Héctor Miguel Cabrejos Vidarte joined the order of the Franciscans , made perpetual profession on June 29, 1974 and was ordained a priest on December 7, 1974 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Lima and titular bishop of Belesasa on June 20, 1988 . He was ordained episcopal on August 7th of the same year by the Archbishop of Lima, Cardinal Juan Landázuri Ricketts, OFM; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Luigi Dossena , Apostolic Nuncio in Peru, and Federico Richter Fernandez-Prada OFM, Archbishop of Ayacucho o Huamanga .

On February 6, 1996, he was appointed military bishop of Peru . He renounced his titular seat Belesasa on March 7, 1998. On July 29, 1999 he was appointed Archbishop of Trujillo . In 2018, his fellow bishops elected him chairman of the Peruvian Bishops' Conference ( Conferencia Episcopal Peruana ).

In 2019 he was elected President of the Latin American Council of Bishops (CELAM) for a term until 2023 .
