The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ayacucho ( lat. : Archidioecesis Ayacuquensis o Huamangensis ) is in the south of Peru located Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Ayacucho .

history

The Diocese of Ayacucho o Huamanga was established on July 20, 1609 from cessions of territory from the Diocese of Cuzco and later subordinated to this as a suffragan . On June 30, 1966, the diocese Ayacucho o Huamanga was raised to an archdiocese. The archbishopric gave up several times in its history parts of its territory to establish new dioceses.
