The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Juan de Puerto Rico ( lat. : Archidioecesis Sancti Joannis portoricensis ) is in Puerto Rico situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in San Juan .

history

The Archdiocese of San Juan de Puerto Rico was established on August 8, 1511 as the Diocese of Puerto Rico and was under the Archdiocese of Seville . On November 21, 1924, the diocese of Puerto Rico was renamed the Diocese of San Juan de Puerto Rico .

The diocese of San Juan de Puerto Rico was founded on April 30, 1960 by Pope John XXIII. with the apostolic constitution Cum apostolicus raised to the archbishopric.
