Alberto Figueroa Morales

Alberto Figueroa Morales (born August 9, 1961 in Guaynabo , Puerto Rico ) is a Puerto Rican clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in San Juan de Puerto Rico .

Life

Alberto Figueroa Morales joined the Capuchin Order , studied philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico and Catholic theology at the University of Navarra in Pamplona . On June 2, 1990, he received the sacrament of ordination .

In addition to various activities in pastoral care, he studied spirituality at the Pontifical University Antonianum in Rome, where he obtained his licentiate . In his order he was the novice master and vice provincial of the Capuchins in Puerto Rico. In 2010 he left the order and was incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of San Juan de Puerto Rico . In 2016 he was appointed Vicar General of the Archdiocese.

On 19 November 2019 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Phelbes and auxiliary bishop in San Juan de Puerto Rico. The Archbishop of San Juan de Puerto Rico, Roberto Octavio González Nieves, OFM , ordained him episcopal on December 27th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Delegate in Puerto Rico, Archbishop Ghaleb Moussa Abdalla Bader , and the Bishop of Ponce , Rubén Antonio González Medina CMF .
