Héctor Moreno (athlete)

Héctor Moreno ( Héctor José Moreno Moreno; born June 8, 1963 in Ventaquemada , Departamento de Boyacá ) is a former Colombian walker .

In 1981 he won silver in the 20 km walk at the Juegos Bolivarianos . In 1983 he took bronze over the same distance at the Pan American Games in Caracas and won the Ibero-American Championships and the South American Athletics Championships in Santa Fe .

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, he was 12th over 20 km.

Each over 20 km, he won bronze at the Central American and Caribbean Athletics Championships in 1985 and at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1986.

In 1987 he won bronze in the 50 km walk at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis and did not reach the goal at the World Athletics Championships in Rome over 20 km.

At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 he was 33rd over 20 km and 30th over 50 km.

In 1989 he won over 20 km at the Juegos Bolivarianos and took silver at the South American Championships in Medellín . The following year he won gold over 50 km and bronze over 20 km at the Central America and Caribbean Games. In 1991 he triumphed at the Pan American Games in Havana over 20 km. At the World Championships in Tokyo he came in 19th place over 20 km and did not reach the goal over 50 km.

At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona he was ninth over 20 km.

In 1993 he won over 20 km silver at the Juegos Bolivarianos, won the Central America and Caribbean Championships, finished eleventh at the World Championships in Stuttgart and took silver at the Central America and Caribbean Games. In 1994 bronze followed at the Ibero-American Championships in 20,000 m walking. In 1995 he won silver over 20,000 m at the South American Championships in Manaus and bronze over 20 km at the Central America and Caribbean Championships. At the World Championships in Gothenburg he finished 13th over 20 km.

In 1996 he again won bronze over 20,000 m at the Ibero-American Championships. At the Olympic Games in Atlanta , he did not finish over 20 km and came in 16th over 50 km.

In 1997 he won the South American Championships in Mar del Plata over 20,000 m. A 17th place over 50 km World Championship in Athens was followed by silver over 20 km at the Juegos Bolivarianos.

At the Ibero-American Championships in 1998 he won bronze over 20 km.

His older brother Querubín Moreno was also successful as a walker.
