The Höllenbach is an almost eight kilometer long tributary of the Waginger See on the boundary of the market Waging am See in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein .

course

The Höllenbach rises at just over 555  m above sea level. NHN a little southwest of the church village Tettelham von Waging am See in a meadow. For a little more than the first half of its course, it flows to the south-east, passing the church village of Otting at a distance , after which it passes under the St 2104 and the Traunstein – Waging railway shortly after each other at the Otting stop . At the Mittermühle he takes to a little over 481  m above sea level. NHN on the Altbach , which drains the Demmel and Kammerfilz towards the east and at the confluence, thanks to its large right-hand tributary Panolsgraben, has a larger catchment area than the Höllenbach up to here. The stream, which is already flowing eastwards, then bends on a north-east course, runs through Markt Waging itself and past Fisching . In the last roughly north it then flows at a campsite at about 442  m above sea level. NHN enters the Waginger See at the tip of a tongue of land that protrudes about a hundred meters due to sediment deposits .

Water quality

Before a sewage treatment plant was built in Waging am See, all of the wastewater from the dairy and the market village was discharged untreated into the Höllenbach, which seriously damaged the water quality of the brook and Lake Waginger. After the sewage treatment plant went into operation, the water quality of both improved significantly.
