action

America in World War II: Air Force pilots Captain Harold Calvert and Major Tom West serve in the United States Air Force and they are given the great honor of taking two of the most modern and powerful long-range Boeing B-29 Superfortress bombers into the air for the first time. The largest bomber built so far should finally bring the hoped-for victories against the Japanese Empire and the German Wehrmacht. But his superiors have no idea that West suffered a war trauma in a previous mission in which he stopped an attack out of fear for his occupation. Since then he has been nervous and is considered a coward among his comrades. When he and Calvert are preparing for a mission to the South Pacific, he seems to be scared, but gets it under control again at takeoff. A short time later, however, he had to take command in a decisive blow against the Japanese and his nerves were put to a tough test. From then on, the war effort took its course, with an uncertain outcome for both.
