The HHV Handels GmbH is a German online shop for records , studio and DJ -Equipment, merchandising and clothing and sneaker based in Berlin. The company carries around 80,000 tracks on vinyl from various genres and, as a music label, offers a platform for new and established artists.

history

The company was founded in 2002 by Thomas Ulrich from his apartment as an online shop for records under the name Hiphopvinyl. His vision was to make underground hip-hop from the USA available on vinyl in Germany, as the supply in the early 2000s could not meet demand. Then as now, the corporate concept comprised new and used records.

At the beginning of 2003, in addition to the online shop, a shop was opened in Berlin-Friedrichshain. In autumn 2005 the company name was changed from Hiphopvinyl to HHV (hhv.de), as the original repertoire of Hip-Hop , Jazz , Funk and Soul was expanded, so that it now also includes electronic music, rock / indie and reggae . In 2008 the company started a print magazine that has also been available as an online version since 2011. The HHV-Mag deals with topics related to music and vinyl. Since 2007 HHV has organized the "Diggin 'Days", an exchange for record collectors in Berlin.

HHV label

Since the beginning of the company's history, HHV has also acted as a record label under the same name and publishes records for artists such as Masta Ace , Trettmann , AzudemSK, Audio88 , The Doppelgangaz, Hubert Daviz and Eloquent. In total, the label released over 700 titles.

In addition, HHV produces and sells vinyl releases exclusively for labels such as Radio Juicy and Cosmic Compositions. HHV also works with independent and large labels and has published exclusive titles worldwide for artists such as Madlib , Beginner and Kendrik Lamar . Official sub-labels of HHV are Project Mooncircle (electronic music) and KEATS (instrumental hip-hop).

HHV magazine

The HHV-Mag was founded in 2008 and appeared quarterly until 2013 as a print magazine with a circulation of 50,000. The online version of the magazine went live in 2011 and continues to deal with music, records, lifestyle and pop culture in the form of reviews, interviews, news and events. The HHV-Mag records over 8,000 contributions, the texts of which come from the pens of music journalists who also write for Noisey , Spex , Juice , Groove and Intro .
