Ha Tae-yeon

Ha Tae-yeon (born March 27, 1976 ) is a retired South Korean wrestler . He was runner- up in the Greco-Roman style flyweight world championship in 1999 .

Career

Ha Tae-yeon began wrestling as a teenager in 1985. He was a member of Samsung Life Sports Club Seoul and is an insurance employee. He was mainly trained by An Jae-won. The 1.60 meter tall athlete wrestled exclusively in the Greco-Roman style, initially in flyweight and in the last year of his international career in bantamweight . In South Korea he had an unbeatable opponent from 1997 in the two-time Olympic champion Sim Gwon-ho . It was therefore only used in international championships from 1997 to 2000 when Sim Gwon-ho did not start.

Ha Tae-yeon had his first international appearances in 1996. In that year Sim Gwon-ho started a weight class lower, in the light flyweight division. At the 1996 Asian Championships in Xiaoshan / China he came in flyweight behind Khaled Al-Faraj from Syria on the 2nd place. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta he defeated Pappu Jadav, India , then lost to Armen Nazarjan , Armenia , won over Khaled Al-Farj, lost to Dariusz Jabłoński , Poland and then had to fight Dariusz Jabłoński again in the fight for 7th place wrestle, which he defeated in the process.

His last two fights against Alfred Ter-Mkrtchyan , Germany and Simeon Milew , Bulgaria , he lost and finished 6th.

The next start of Ha Tae-yeon at an international championship, it was his most successful, took place again in 1999. He finished 2nd at the World Championships this year in Athens , making him vice world champion.
