Hagood Hardy
Hugh Hagood Hardy , CM , (born February 26, 1937 in Angola , Indiana , † January 1, 1997 in Hamilton , Ontario ) was a Canadian vibraphonist , pianist and film composer .
Live and act
Hardy, who grew up in Oakville, Ontario , received a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College, University of Toronto , and he also took private lessons with Gordon Delamont . He played from the early 1960s in the USA with Gigi Gryce , Martin Denny , Herbie Mann and George Shearing . After his return to Canada he worked with his own trio, which he soon expanded into the pop group Montage , with whom he also toured in Europe. Under his own name, he presented a number of singles and albums in the field of pop and easy listening from the early 1970s . The single The Homecoming hit the US charts in 1975 (# 41 Pop, # 6 Easy Listening). He has also composed jingles and film scores for a number of CBS television series, including a. for the series The Girl from Town , Anne of Green Gables and the horror film Labyrinth of the Monsters (1982).
Awards
Hardy has won the Canadian Juno Awards several times as a composer and instrumentalist; In 1976 he was instrumental Artist of the Year of the billboard . In 1977 he received the Harold Moon Award from BMI Canada (SOCAN); In 1992 he was awarded the Order of Canada .
