The Hahnenbach is a one kilometer long, orographic left tributary of Odenbaches in Rhineland-Palatinate Kusel in the domain of the municipality Lauterecken-Wolfenstein belonging to local churches Reipoltskirchen and Ginsweiler .

The Hahnenbach rises in the natural area of Moschelhöhen in the North Palatinate mountainous region at an altitude of 289  m above sea level. NHN in a corner of the forest northeast of the Karlshof residential area in Reipoltskirchen at the eastern foot of the 359.8  m high Galgenberg and at the northern foot of the Platte hill ( 361  m ). Its source lies directly to the west of a meadow orchard that is under nature protection .

The stream initially flows a good half a kilometer in a north-northeast direction through the eastern southern tip of the Hahnenwald and then reaches the border with the local community of Ginsweiler. From there it marks the border between Reipoltskirchen in the southeast and Ginsweiler in the northwest. The brook then runs accompanied by a strip of ash forest between the state forest Kusel on the left and the Hahnenwald on the right through a narrow valley that is wooded on both sides . After another half a kilometer, it is fed on its left by a forest stream coming from the west. A little further down the stream, the Hahnenbach floodplain forest borders on a narrow strip of green on this side.

The stream now runs northwest through the corridor of the same name, still crosses state road 382 . and finally flows about six hundred meters northwest of Reipoltskirchen at a height of 210  m from the left into the Odenbach coming from the southeast .

Data

The Hahnenbach drains over the Odenbach , Glan , Nahe and Rhine into the North Sea . The difference in altitude from its source to its mouth is 102 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of about 78 ‰ over a length of 1.3 km.
