The grove speedwell or hedges speedwell ( Veronica sublobata ) also shallow lobes speedwell or called Ohnlappen speedwell, is a plant from the genus of speedwell ( Veronica ) within the family of plantain plants (Plantaginaceae). It is common in Europe.

Vegetative characteristics

The Hain speedwell is an annual herbaceous plant that can reach heights of up to 15 centimeters. The usually ascending stems are 5 to 50 centimeters long and clearly hairy.

Generative characteristics

The flowering period extends from March to May. The bracts are thin and weakly five-lobed, with the middle lobes longer than wide. The long-stalked flowers stand individually in the upper leaf axils.

With a diameter of 4 to 5 millimeters, the relatively small flowers have a double flower envelope . The sepals are triangular-heart-shaped and have noticeably long eyelashes. The corollas are pale purple in color. The stylus is 0.3 to 0.8 millimeters long. The flower and fruit stalk show a single line of hair and are often hairy in addition. The fruit stalks are on average 10 to 18 millimeters long and 0.8 to 0.9 times as long as their bract and stem. The almost spherical, bald fruit contains up to four seeds about 2.5 × 2.2 millimeters in size.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 36.

Occurrence

The distribution area of ​​the Hain-Ehrenpreis extends from north and west, across central and south Europe to the northern Balkan peninsula . There are sites in the United Kingdom , Finland , the Netherlands , Belgium , Germany , Austria , Switzerland , the Czech Republic , Slovakia , Hungary , Poland , the Baltic States , Belarus , the Ukraine , the former Yugoslavia , in Romania , Spain , France and Italy . The Grove Speedwell can be found in alluvial forests, in shady, fresh ruderal meadows and hedges, in gardens and fields. He is a species of character of the order Glechometalia.
