The Indoor Cycling World Championships 2005 took place from November 25th to 27th, 2005 in Freiburg im Breisgau , the competition venue was the halls of the Freiburg Exhibition Center . There were competitions in cycling and artificial cycling . The most successful nation was host Germany with five gold medals.
A total of 156 athletes from 20 nations took part. The only one that did not come from the European or Asian region was Guinea , which was represented by an artificial cyclist, but who competed out of competition. Nonetheless, this was the first time an African rider had participated since the 2000 World Indoor Cycling Championships.
organization
The host of the world championship was the RSV Breisgauperle Denzlingen in the form of a club that was set up especially for this event.
The world championship was a success in terms of audience appeal, but not in financial terms: the association for the implementation of the indoor cycling World Championships 2005 eV had to file for bankruptcy due to a deficit in the six-figure range.
Venue
The entire event was held in the halls of the Freiburg Exhibition Center. The grandstands, which were temporarily erected especially for this occasion, had a capacity of 6248 seats. In addition to the competition arena, a sports area with accommodation and a training area was set up.
Bike ball
A two-man team competition was held for the men.
mode
The tournament consisted of three groups: group A with the six strongest teams and groups B1 and B2 with five weaker teams each. In all groups there was one round in which everyone played against each other once. In the intermediate round of the Group A teams, the team placed first in the preliminary round met the sixth placed, the second placed fifth and the third placed fourth. The three winners qualified for the final round, in which each team had to compete once with the other two. The first and second placed finally played the world champion in the final game. In the intermediate round of the group B teams, the first placed in group B1 met the first placed in group B2, the second placed in group B1 against the runner-up in group B2, etc. Group A to ascend or stay in group A.

Artistic cycling
There were competitions in 1-man, 2-man and 4-man artificial cycling for women and 1 and 2-man artificial cycling for men.
mode
Each participant or each team had to drive a freestyle. This lasted a maximum of six minutes and included 28 for the individual starters and 22 for the duos, each with a certain level of difficulty, which, added together with the basic number of points, served as the basis for the evaluation (called points). The end result was obtained after deducting the points of failure (points left out).
