The Halsebach is a 9.34 km long right tributary of the Aller in the north German lowlands near Verden (Aller) .

course

The Halsebach rises about 1 km south of the village of Holtum (Geest) , which belongs to the municipality of Kirchlinteln , immediately west of the railway connection from Rotenburg (Wümme) to Verden (Aller) and initially flows in a south-westerly direction. It flows north past Scharnhorst (Verden) and passes under the A 27 between the Verden-Nord and Verden-Ost motorway junctions . In a westerly direction, the Halsebach near Neumühlen flows between the Verden Dunes and Dauelsen nature reserve, past Verden to the north, runs north of the Sachsenhain and finally flows into the Aller shortly before it flows into the Weser.

Danger

In its upper reaches, the water has the water quality II – III: critically polluted and later the water quality II: moderately polluted.

Two water beetle species ( Haliplus wehnckei and Hydroporus discretus ) have been detected in the Halsebach, which are considered endangered on the Red List for the Lower Saxony lowlands.

use

In the past, the Halse was used as a mill stream by several water mills .

The Halsebach has been largely dry for a number of years. Nature conservation associations see a connection with a lowering of the groundwater in the catchment area through abstraction for drinking water production .
