Hamza Bencherif (born February 9, 1988 in Paris ) is an Algerian football player who has been under contract with Notts County since 2011 .

Club career

Beginnings in France and first experiences in league football

The versatile Algerian, who prefers to act as a central defender and in midfield, began his career in France at EA Guingamp . In January 2007, the traditional English club Nottingham Forest signed him. At the Reds he was sent to the reserve team and used there in his debut season. In October 2007, a first change on loan to fourth division Lincoln City FC followed , which was initially terminated for a month. On October 2, 2007 Bencherif completed his first game in a professional league when he was in the starting line-up of the Imps in the away game at FC Bury and was replaced by Adie Moses in the 68th minute . By the end of October, three more appearances followed in Football League Two and the Algerian played in the FA Trophy . Lincoln City then agreed with Nottingham Forest to park Bencherif on loan in Lincoln for another month. On November 6th, in his sixth appearance in the fourth highest English league, the Algerian scored his first goal in the home game against Chesterfield FC . In the 67th minute he scored the 2: 4 final score, previously Jack Lester scored a hat trick for Chesterfield.

Return to Nottingham and sign at Macclesfield Town

After his return to Nottingham Forest, which meanwhile realized after the 2007/08 season as runner-up of the Football League One, the return to the Football League Championship , Bencherif moved up to the professional squad of the Garibaldi Reds for the 2008/09 season . Since the back four of the team with Luke Chambers , Wes Morgan , James Perch and Kelvin Wilson was appealing, he was not considered in the plans of head coach Colin Calderwood and his successor Billy Davies . In May 2009, Nottingham Forest decided not to renew its contract. Two months later, Bencherif agreed with fourth division Macclesfield Town on a collaboration and signed a one-year contract with the Silkmen .

Subsequent time in league operation of League Two at Macclesfield Town

Together with the attacker Emile Sinclair , who was previously also under contract with Nottingham Forest , who played on loan at Macclesfield Town in the spring of 2009, Bencherif started on August 8, 2009 in a goalless draw in the away game at Northampton Town for the first time. Ten days later, the Algerian, this time called up as a midfielder, scored his first goal for his new employer in the home game against Port Vale . His goal in the 68th minute led to the 2-0 final score for Macclesfield Town. On September 26, he scored two goals in one game in his home game against Torquay United for the first time in his career and led his team to a 2-1 win. By December 5, he completed a total of 19 league games for Macclesfield Town and scored five times in the opposing goal before a protracted injury put him out of action until the end of the season. In May 2010 he agreed with the club to extend his expiring contract until the end of June 2011. At the end of the 2009/10 season, the team finished 19th in Football League Two and secured 54 points and ten points ahead of the first Relegated Grimsby Town received the league.

Moved to the third division Notts County

On June 23, 2011 he moved to the third division Notts County and returned to Nottingham.
