The place is located in the Dynów Mountains , on the right Wisłok tributary Sawa (also called Głuchówka) about 8 km south of Łańcut and 17 km southeast of Rzeszów .

history

In the late 14th century was created around the city Łańcut a closed German linguistic island (later forest German called that until the 18th century were polnischsprachig ) of about ten villages, including the village Handzlówka. It was first mentioned in 1384 as the Henselshow , but this mention has often been confused with the earlier Langyn Aw (1381). The German clearing name (modern -hau) was later replaced with the Polish diminutive form -ówka, indicating possession. The local forest Stenayland was mentioned in 1638 ( Praterea sylvam dictam Federe Stenayland das Farrers tunc ademptam esse ). This already distorted name appeared alongside the prevailing name Bąkówka in 1721 ( Item possidet a tempore immemorabili pratum in Sylva olim germanicae Ferder Sztenay Landesfarnes nuncupata hodie vero vulgo Bąkówka dicta ), but not in 1744.

During the first partition of Poland , Handzlówka became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804). After the abolition of patrimonial with serfdom , it formed a municipality in the district and judicial district of Łańcut from 1850 .

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, the place became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Handzlówka was part of the Rzeszów Voivodeship .
