Hannes Van Dahl

Hannes Van Dahl (born Karl-Hannes Dahl in Sweden on January 18, 1990 ) is a Swedish musician. He became known as the drummer for the heavy metal band Sabaton .

Life

Van Dahl was born as Karl-Hannes Dahl, and as an adult he had the name changed to "Hannes Van Dahl". His interest in rock and metal was sparked by one of his cousins and his mother. Van Dahl played in a school band. He started playing the electric bass when he was thirteen , but found it boring and switched to drums two years later . His first band was called "The Motherfuckers". He later was a member of The Gloria Story on their first album as well as the subsequent EP he played. He also played in the bands Down Thrust and Electric Soul, but ended his engagement in all three bands in favor of Evergrey, the band he joined in 2010. He joined the band after he had been a drum technician for the band Ammotrack from the age of seventeen and his drum teacher Snowy Shaw had recommended him to Tom Englund . At Evergrey he replaced Jonas Ekdahl, who was again the group's drummer after Van Dahl left the band.

He was also a drum technician for Snowy Shaw when he was a live member of Sabaton. After a rehearsal in the Abyss Studio he became an official member of the band and joined the band on the Swedish Empire Tour . In 2014, Sabaton released Heroes, the band's first album featuring Van Dahl. For the album he was involved in the composition of the bonus song Man of War .

Van Dahl is in a relationship with the Dutch Nightwish singer Floor Jansen . Their daughter was born on March 15, 2017. In addition to the drums, he has mastered the guitar and skateboarding in his free time . He plays in the band The Last Heroes with Tommy Johansson , Thobbe Englund and Chris Rörland .
