Joakim "Jocke" Brodén (born October 5, 1980 in Falun ) is a Swedish-Czech singer and musician. He gained fame as the front man, lyricist and composer of the Swedish heavy metal band Sabaton . Next to bass player Pär Sundström he is the last remaining founding member.

Life

Brodén was born in 1980 as the son of a Swede and a Czech woman and is therefore a citizen of both countries. When he was five or six years old, his mother gave him a Twisted Sister album after Brodén saw the band on television.

In his late school days Brodén spent a lot of time jamming , his friend, who was a drummer at the time, brought him as a keyboardist to a four-piece band that was still playing black and death metal cover pieces at the time. Brodén brought his own songs into the band and because they couldn't find a singer, he took on this role. Pär Sundström played bass in this band . Because there were no metal samples back then, Brodén recorded his own samples with all kinds of objects.

In 1999 Brodén and Sundström founded the band Aoen , together with Oskar Montelius, Rikard Sundén and Richard Larsson, who left them two years later. The band was soon renamed "Sabaton". Since the band's existence, Brodén has been involved in all of the band's pieces, mostly composing them on his own, if he is not writing the lyrics, Sundström wrote them. Until 2005, when Daniel Mÿhr joined Sabaton, Brodén was also the group's studio keyboarder. After leaving Mÿhr in 2012, he took over this role again, the keyboard tracks are played live from the tape. In addition to keyboard and piano, Brodén is also a master of rhythm guitar .

In 2000 Brodén was a music teacher for a year.

Among the bands that influenced him the most are Iron Maiden , Judas Priest , Accept , UDO and Blind Guardian, among others . He covered the first two pieces with Sabaton as bonus songs for regular albums, and with Accept Sabaton toured both as opening act and as headliner .
