Hannie Pollmann-Zaal

Hannie Pollmann-Zaal (* 1952 ; † January 2, 2010 in Brussels ) was a Dutch diplomat .

biography

After joining the diplomatic service of the Netherlands, in addition to working in the Foreign Ministry, she worked at the embassies in Tanzania and Rome as well as at the permanent missions to the European Union and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna .

As the successor to Rudolf Bekink , she became ambassador to Belgium in May 2008 . In this function she achieved notoriety during the conflict over the further deepening of the Westerschelde and the representation of the Dutch attitude towards the Prime Minister of Flanders Kris Peeters .

Renilde Weiffenbach-Steegh's successor as ambassador was after her death. In addition to Kris Peters, the Dutch State Secretary for European Affairs Frans Timmermans from the Partij van de Arbeid (PvdA) was present at the funeral service .
