Hans-Joachim Willerding

Hans-Joachim Willerding (born April 19, 1952 in Berlin-Pankow ) is a former SED politician in the German Democratic Republic .

biography

Willerding is the son of the GDR diplomat Klaus Willerding . He joined the FDJ in 1966 and the SED in 1971. In 1972 he began studying at the Moscow State Institute for International Relations and graduated in 1977 with a degree in political science. He then became a full-time functionary of the FDJ, the youth association of the GDR . Within the FDJ he was most recently a member of the office and secretary of the FDJ Central Council for Western Labor. Later he also became vice chairman of the FDJ. In 1989 he received his doctorate from the Wilhelm Pieck University in Rostock on the subject of "On the role of the international youth and student movement in the conflicts over war and peace in the eighties of the 20th century" .

In 1981 he was elected a member of the People's Chamber . There he was chairman of the FDJ faction from 1982 until the end of the electoral term on March 10, 1990. On the XI. At the SED party congress in 1986, he became a candidate for the Central Committee (ZK).

After the turnaround began , on November 8, 1989, at the suggestion of Hans Modrow, he was elected candidate for the Politburo and member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the SED. At 37, he was the youngest member of the SED's extended executive committee. Due to the events of the turnaround and the concern that the SED would not cope with the situation, he resigned on December 2, 1989 immediately before a meeting of the Central Committee.

On 9 December 1989 Willerding was at the party in the meantime in PDS voted renamed SED member of the Presidium of the PDS. In this function he was also a member of the PDS Commission for International Politics and as such took part on September 12, 1990 in a conversation with the Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU , Valentin Falin , on the process of German reunification and the situation in the Soviet Union .

In the People's Chamber election in 1990 he was elected a member of the People's Chamber on March 18, 1990 . There he represented the interests of the PDS until the end of the 10th electoral term on October 3, 1990.

He then withdrew from politics and switched to business. As managing director of the Picon company, he recently advised German companies in Russia and China .
