Klaus Willerding

Klaus Willerding (born November 24, 1923 in Berlin-Schöneberg ; † October 5, 1982 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SED ), functionary and diplomat of the GDR .

Life

Willerding, son of a doctor, was called up for military service after graduating from high school and was taken prisoner by the Soviets in 1944 . From 1946 to 1948 he attended an Antifa school and in 1949 the Antifa Central School in Krasnogorsk .

In 1949 he returned to Germany and joined the SED. From 1949 to 1958 he was a functionary of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship (DSF), 1949/1950 he was secretary of the DSF state board of Mecklenburg and from 1950 to 1958 secretary of the DSF central board .

In 1958 he succeeded Max Hummeltenberg in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR and became chief of protocol . 1964 to 1968 he was the GDR ambassador in Ulaanbaatar . In 1969 he received his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. From 1969 to 1972 he worked as an ambassador in Hanoi . After his return to the GDR in 1972, he was Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the GDR until his death in 1982.

Private

His son Hans-Joachim Willerding is a former functionary of the FDJ and the SED in the German Democratic Republic . Klaus Willerding's urn was buried in the central cemetery in Berlin-Friedrichsfelde on Pergolenweg.
