Rudolf Pfützner
Rudolf Pfützner (* 15. January 1910 in Leipzig , † 29. January 1999 in Berlin ) was a German communist , resistance fighter against the Nazis and East Germany - Diplomat .
Life
The son of a worker completed a commercial apprenticeship after attending elementary school. He became a member of the KJVD in 1926 and the KPD in 1928 . After the seizure of power of the Nazis in 1933, he made anti-fascist resistance work. He was taken into protective custody from August to November 1933 and detained again in September 1934. In April 1935 he was sentenced to three years and six months imprisonment by the Dresden Higher Regional Court, which he served in the Waldheim prison and in the Aschendorfer Moor camp. After his release he was drafted into duty in Leipzig. As head of a Leipzig resistance group, he was arrested in 1941 and sentenced to 15 years in prison by the People's Court in 1942 . He was sent to the Waldheim prison again and finally to the Mauthausen concentration camp .
After his liberation he went back to Leipzig and was director of the Leipzig station until 1951 . He became a member of the SED in 1946 . In 1949/50 he studied at the party college "Karl Marx" . From January 1951 he was deputy and from July 1951 to 1955 director of the Berliner Rundfunk and the Deutschlandsender . At the same time he was a member of the State Broadcasting Committee from 1952 to 1955.
He then entered the diplomatic service of the GDR and became ambassador to Vietnam . On August 30, 1955, he presented his credentials to the President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh . He held this position until 1959. He then acted until 1974 as head of the information department and as a member of the College of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He then worked as a member of the central management of the Committee of Antifascist Resistance Fighters in the GDR .
