Hans-Martin Lohmann (born January 26, 1944 in Bergneustadt ; † May 5, 2014 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German publicist and editor-in-chief of the psychoanalytical journal Psyche .

Life

Lohmann was born the son of a pastor. He studied German , philosophy and political science in Bonn and Düsseldorf and worked through the Frankfurt School . From 1974 to 1979 he was a science lecturer at Suhrkamp Verlag .

From 1981 to 2002 Lohmann lived in Heidelberg . From 1979 to 1986 he was editor of the psychoanalytic journal “Psyche” and until 1992 worked as a freelance journalist. Then he was editor-in-chief of "Psyche" until 1997. From 2002 he lived as a freelance journalist in Frankfurt am Main again.

Lohmann wrote for daily newspapers, magazines and radio and dealt primarily with the topics of Marxism and the history of the labor movement , psychoanalysis, the life and work of Sigmund Freud as well as fascism and the extermination of the Jews . His most important publications include Psychoanalysis and National Socialism (eds.), Freud Introduction , the Freud Handbook and Marxism . He also published the Rowohlt monographs on Alexander Mitscherlich and Sigmund Freud. From 2010 he published individual writings by Freud with commentary in the Reclam publishing house.
