Hans-Robert Gareißen (born April 25, 1944 in Munich ) is a retired German Brigadier General . D.

Military career

Promotions

Gareißen joined the Bundeswehr as a temporary soldier on October 1, 1964 . He went through all management levels up to the battalion commander of the tank battalion ( LEOPARD 2 ) 363 (lieutenant colonel) in Külsheim, with whom he successfully participated in the international CAT shooting in 1987 . With a one-year engagement in the staff of the I. Corps in Münster / Westphalia , he laid the foundation for his leadership positions up to the rank of colonel in activities for press and public relations, the management of the Army NCO III, the civil-military cooperation in the administrative region of Swabia and the Management of the Bundeswehr sports school in Warendorf . In 2000 he was promoted to Deputy Commander of the 7th Panzer Division in Düsseldorf by the Federal Minister of Defense Scharping with the rank of Brigadier General.

He was retired on May 1, 2005. Gareißen lives in Münster . He is married and has two children.

Use in action

From December 2000 to June 2001 Gareißen led the 2nd ( SFOR ) Army Contingent of the Bundeswehr in Bosnia-Herzegovina and was also the National Commander in the country of deployment for all German soldiers.

Awards

Activity in retirement

Gareißen led the section of the Clausewitz Society in Bavaria on a voluntary basis from 2007 to 2009 . For Lions Clubs International (LCI) he held the office of district governor for the district of Bavaria South with 107 Lions clubs (3,700 members) and was honored with the highest award, the Melvin Jones Fellow, for his voluntary work. In addition, he passes on the professional experience of his management activity and the associated personnel management responsibility in seminars to students in Germany and to scholarship holders for the development of the municipal administration in Central Asia of the Hanns Seidel Foundation . He also trains young executives in start-ups in personnel management.
