Hans-Stephan Stender

Hans-Stephan Stender (born January 4, 1920 in Hanover ; † July 10, 2007 in Isernhagen ) was a German radiologist .

Life

Stender studied medicine and in 1946 at the University of Giessen with a dissertation on the clinical experience with Oestra-Diolglucosid to Dr. med. PhD . In 1957 he completed his habilitation with the text The Influence of Radiation Effects by Changing Biological and Physico-Chemical Factors at the Philipps University of Marburg .

Hans-Stephan Stender received a call to the chair of radiology at the Medical University of Hanover and was director of the Institute of Clinical Radiology of the department of radiology. In succession to Fritz Hartmann , he was rector of the Hannover Medical School from 1969 to 1971. In 1985 he retired .

Stender was married. The marriage had four children.

Act

Stender was the first in Germany to outsource radiation oncology and radiation therapy as an independent work area from general radiology .

Stender was the chairman of the IV Radiology Working Group of the Quality Assurance Committee for Medical Professional Practice of the German Medical Association . He was an honorary member of the German Society for Medical Physics (DGMP).

From 1972 to 1973 he was chairman of the X-ray Society of Lower Saxony, Bremen and Saxony-Anhalt eV and later its honorary member. In 1985 he was awarded the Hermann Rieder Medal by the German X-ray Society and in 1990 the X-ray plaque . In 1993 Stender received the Hanns Langendorff Medal . In 1996 he became an honorary member of the German Radiological Society. In 1996 he was honored with the Paracelsus Medal , the highest honor in the German medical profession.
